Born on 25 December 1982, Dr. Ritwiz pursued his medical education at the renowned Institute Of Medical Sciences, BHU, Varanasi. He completed his MBBS in 2003, followed by an internship in 2004 and a specialization in MD (Internal Medicine) from the same institute between 2005 and 2008.
Dr. Ritwiz served as a Senior Resident in Neurology at G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi, from 2008 to 2009. Driven by a passion for neurological care, he pursued further studies and obtained his DM in Neurology from IPGMER, Kolkata, between 2009 and 2012.
Dr. Ritwiz's professional journey is marked by significant contributions to healthcare. He began his career as a Consultant at Medica Super Specialty Hospital in Kolkata in 2012, followed by consultancies at Vivekanand Polyclinic and Dr. O. P. Chaudhary Hospital And Research Center in Lucknow from 2014 to 2019. During his tenure as an Assistant Professor at Era Medical College from 2015 to 2018, Dr. Ritwiz shared his expertise and knowledge with aspiring medical professionals.
From 2019 to 2025, he served as Director and Incharge of the Stroke Unit at Medanta Lucknow, where he continued to make impactful strides in the field of neurology. He then took on his current role as Head and Chairperson of the Neurology Department at Chandan Hospital, Lucknow. His dedication to patient care, coupled with his leadership roles and active participation in medical societies, exemplifies his commitment to advancing neurological healthcare.
Stroke Management and Prevention
Dr. Ritwiz has a particular focus on the field of stroke. He completed a certificate course on stroke through the Calgary Stroke Distance Learning program. He previously served as the stroke unit in charge at Medanta Lucknow (2019-2025), where he oversaw both inpatient and outpatient stroke care, and ran a dedicated stroke clinic. His commitment to quality stroke care was recognized when his unit received the WSO Angels Diamond Status award from the World Stroke Organization and Angel’s Initiative.
He actively participates in stroke-related conferences and frequently conducts stroke awareness camps. Dr. Ritwiz serves as the secretary of the Stroke and Education Society and is also organizing secretary for the proposed Indian National Stroke Conference in 2025.
